LIVE “GRAVITY TWO”
At last a Turntable Record Weight which works as it should!
Many
clamps flatten records successfully but have very mixed results on sound
quality. Generally, your average heavy weight will pump up the bass but dull down
the upper mid-band and cause a major limit to top end openness. There is a
perceived softening of dynamics (even in the bass), a
slowing down of the sound and the decay of notes suffers.
For
25 years or so we’ve tested turntable record weight designs (both ours and 3rd
parties) and never came across a weight or clamp which enhanced sound quality
without detriment to crucial aspects of the performance. Then one year we were
sharing a room at the Indulgence show with the importer of the Shun Mook record weight. To my astonishment, this actually
worked and enhanced everything in the music with no downside. The only problem
was that it cost £2000.
This
experience got us thinking and after some interesting design experiences with
previously untested materials we thought it worth trying again. This
produced the Gravity One. Building on the success of the Gravity One,
we kept experimenting with the design of our record weight. This produced
the Gravity Two.
We’re
thrilled to unveil the Gravity Two, a masterful re-imagination of our acclaimed
record weight, engineered from the ground up to elevate your turntables
performance. Made for audiophiles who, like us, demand
uncompromising sound quality. The Gravity Two delivers enhanced bass
depth, impeccable separation, and a midrange that’s richer and clearer. All
while maintaining the lightweight brilliance of its predecessor.
Our
mission was clear: to create a record weight that preserves the featherlight design of the Gravity One, amplifies its sonic
benefits, and rivals the bass extension of heavier weights without sacrificing
midrange detail or high-frequency openness, as heavier weights invariably do.
As you’d expect, carrying this out wasn’t simple, but after countless
prototypes and rigorous A/B testing, the Gravity Two has emerged as a triumph.
Precision Engineering for Unparalleled Sound
The
Gravity Two’s outer shell is crafted from a meticulously selected anti-resonant
polymer (distinctly not Delrin) chosen for its
superior damping properties. Structural ridges enhance the rigidity. This
breakthrough enabled us to explore more advanced internal components, unlocking
new aspects of performance.
Lightweight
metallic elements dissipate vibrational energy. These work in harmony with
layers of wood, composites, and advanced polymers, each rigorously selected for
their influence on performance. Each material is carefully tuned to enhance
your vinyl’s sound while preserving the delicate nuances that heavier weights
obscure. The result? A record weight
that redefines clarity, focus, and musicality.
The Gravity Two transforms your listening experience with:
Enhanced
Focus and Presence: Every musical element gains substance and body, creating a
more immersive soundstage.
Lifelike
Vocals: Harshness and brightness present at times in the music are reduced,
leaving vocals that flow with natural warmth and precision. Until you have
heard this effect, one thinks that harsh edges are in the recording but this is
the effect of resonance.
Dynamic
Bass: Experience deeper, more controlled bass with lifelike extension and
decay, free from compression.
Refined
Soundstage: Musical elements are precisely placed against a silent, black
background, eliminating the haze of lesser weights.
Unlike
traditional record weights that boost bass at the expense of midrange detail
and treble openness, the Gravity Two builds on the legacy of the Gravity One.
It delivers exceptional bass extension, razor-sharp focus, and a richer, more
substantial midrange, revealing details and vitality in your vinyl that you’ve
never heard before.

Record Weight Specifications:
Dimensions:
70mm diameter x 25mm height
Weight: 67 grams
Fits over spindles between 5mm to 40mm height (where height is measured between
top of record and very top of spindle)
Possible objections:
My
deck will be different to the one you tested the clamp on so there is there any
guarantee of improvement?
This
a valid concern, however a record clamp is primarily in contact with the record
rather than your deck. Although the deck will affect the vibration of the
record, the effect of exerting control from the topside of the record is
different. To test this point we tried the clamp on:
Solid
platters
Platters
topped with felt mats
Suspended
decks
Non suspended decks
In
all cases the improvements of the record weight were the same as listed above.
The
record weight is actually a very low mass under 70
grams and will not upset suspended turntables.
GRAVITY ONE REVIEWS

upgrade could be roughly compared to doubling the cost of any component in your
stereo system.” Read

“…the
Gravity One is all about noise reduction, adding discipline to all frequencies,
opening up the soundstage, infusing it with air, detail and clarity. As I say,
I thought my own hi-fi had reached a state of perfection. Perfection in its
price range maybe, but within those limits yes,
perfection. Then the Origin Live Gravity One toddled along and proved me wrong.
I was very happy to be put in my place by this little accessory. And no, Origin
Live, you can’t have it back. Now I’ve heard what this thing does…” Read

“With
the Gravity One, there is an unmistakable cleaning up of the pounding lower
frequencies, which sound punchier, tighter and extended deeper than
normal.” Hi-Fi

“To
sum it up, I would say that the Gravity allows the air around vocals and
instruments to illuminate the musician’s skills, and as an added bonus it digs
the depths of bass allowing the listener to hear the character of both the
instrument and player.
A
truly exciting and excellently produced accessory that I would not be without.” Read
