ART CABLE DESIGN & ENGINEERING HERE
SILVER LINE “THE
GROUND”
Sonic Art Ground cables are made from our
Silver Line series conductors, the Ground cable uses a
heavy version of our silver copper alloy conductors, insulated in pressure cast
Teflon like all our conductors. We then add a heavy woven PE antistatic sheath
to protect and damped the wire. Sonic Art SILVER SPADES are fitted to both
ends, our spades are custom made and are an alloy spade with straight copper
then silver plating, we secure the ground wire with
the screws first then silver solder fill in the outer section of the wire bore
to ensure years of trouble free operation. Adhesive heatshrink
is used at both ends to keep the ground wire firmly assembled.
• Why choose Silver? Because it offers excellent conductivity, and if the metallurgy is
correct, a sweet and detailed sound.
• Why Silver & Copper? Pure Silver is soft, it requires impure metals for strength and usually
sounds bright and thin when combined with the most common hardeners. Combine it
with Hi purity copper and you have the best of both worlds.
• Why choose TEFLON? Dielectric quality is an important factor when designing cable. The
lowest loss insulator available is VIRGIN PTFE (Pressure Cast TEFLON), Teflon unfortunately
is also the most expensive, which you could surmise is why many manufacturers
avoid using it. Our TEFLON is
the highest MILSPEC grade
available and exhibits the lowest signal loss of any insulator besides air.
• CARDAS TRI-Eutectic Silver Solder
is used to seal the screw connection in our Silver plated Spades. If you attempt
to solder silver with normal solders you get absorption of silver particles
causing poor joint performance and degradation of signal. Silver solder is
designed to suppress silver absorption from the surface of the silver wire
leaving a joint that is pure and provides the best conductivity from solder
possible.
NOTE:
Where we use PE sheathing over our cables, it is purely for Anti Static
properties and in no way is a structural part of the cable.
Have you ever noticed how other HI-END cable manufacturer’s
have a range of much cheaper models, all slotted in under their most expensive
‘Flagship” cable?

LINE “THE GROUND” Specifications:
Wire: MILSPEC 4N Silver/Copper 1.4mm
diameter. Perfectly round conductor & strand grouping for
even dielectric wall thickness.
Insulation: Military Grade VIRGIN PTFE
(Pressure cast Teflon).
Termination: Sonic Art Alloy Spades, straight
copper and silver plating over an alloy spade base for superior performance.
Sonic Art Cables require
150+ hours of use before reaching full performance.
