CEC TL5 TRANSPORT UPGRADE SERVICE PACKAGE

CEC TL5 upgrade package! We replace the capacitors on the power supply board, and improve the rectification section with spike suppression much like CEC used on the earlier TL51's, quality Panasonic or ELNA Audio and Nichicon Fine Gold or SILMIC II audio caps are used along with WIMA FKP series caps in key places.

The servo board has 17 caps replaced with Nichicon FG or ELNA Silmic II audio caps.

The CEC TL5 is a very capable hi-end transport but it suffers from a bit of a sterile midrange, it can sound a bit hard in the frequency range we are most sensitive to compared to earlier belt drive units. One must understand that 'Japan Made' for all current CEC models brings with it higher costs vs using Taiwan/China, the cost to manufacture in Japan must be taken into consideration when choosing components and complexity of circuits like the power supply. This is nothing against CEC of course as they make some of the nicest CD transports out there. These mods are simply aimed at improving an already very capable transport, the machine has a smoother more liquid sound when upgraded.
